Do you suffer from hair loss? Have you been diagnosed with alopecia areata? If you have been diagnosed with this hair loss condition you have probably been told that there is no effective treatment for your hair loss.
A lot of people with alopecia areata will have their hair grow back
within a year. However, if you are not willing to wait for that long or
if you are afraid that your hair will not return you may want to try
natural alopecia treatment.
Essential oils have been studied and found to be somewhat effective for
hair loss. The study used a combination mixture of thyme, rosemary,
lavender and cedar wood essential oils combined in a carrier mixture of
jojoba and grapeseed. This oil was massaged into the scalp daily. This
study was performed on eighty six people with alopecia areata. The
control group from this study used only the carrier mixture on their
scalp without the essential oils. After seven months nineteen of the
forty three people who used the essential oil mixture on their scalp
showed an improvement in hair re-growth. This was in comparison to only
six people of the forty one in the control group that showed
improvement.
Onion juice is another interesting alopecia treatment that has been
studied and proven to provide good results. The Journal of Dermatology
published their study results that proved that onion juice applied to
the scalp daily produced hair re-growth in a little as two weeks. This
group was in comparison to a control group that applied tap water to
their scalp.
Hypnosis has been thought to be effective for hair re-growth in people
with alopecia areata. This study used twenty eight people and in twelve
of these twenty eight people hair re-growth occurred after three to
eight hypnosis sessions. The study size was very small, and it did not
contain a placebo group so the results cannot be determined to be
conclusive. However, the hypnosis did lower the feelings of anxiety in
those with alopecia. This benefit alone could be worth it.
It is always a good idea to eat a healthy diet of whole foods and to
drink plenty of water. You should also start an exercise program and get
into shape. This will make your body and scalp healthy and ready for
re-growth.
If your alopecia areata is thought to be a symptom of a specific disease
or health condition it is best to get an accurate diagnosis and to treat
the underlying disease. Your hair may grow back on it's own once the
disease is under control. If you find that your hair is not growing back
then check out alternative treatments for hair growth. You may find an
alopecia treatment that works for you.
